The pair went on stage to present a gong and the chemistry was obvious when Jen – wearing a daring dress slashed to the thigh – rested her head on the hunky Scot’s shoulder.

But it was what they were up to off-camera that sent speculation into over-drive.T

hey enjoyed a few glasses of champers at the Beverly Hilton with Jen’s best pal Courteney Cox and hubby David Arquette. A guest said: “She was whispering in his ear quite a bit.”

It seemed to work as the 300 star was hanging on to her every word and being very attentive.

The rumour-mill started when Jen and Gerard were pictured on the set of movie The Bounty Hunter last year. Gerard has denied a romance, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed…

Who has the leg up?

Jennifer Aniston showed off her toned and tanned leg in a Valentino gown at Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards — just a few months after Angelina Jolie rocked a thigh-baring Versace Atelier frock in Cannes.

(Another coincidence? Aniston was presenting the Best Screenplay award — for which ex Brad Pitt’s flick, Inglourious Basterds, was nominated, but lost to Up in the Air.)

But UsMagazine.com readers overwhelmingly thought Aniston, 40, pulled off the style better than Jolie, 34.

Said BarbiBenton to Us via Twitter, “The difference between Jen’s leg and Angelina’s [dress] though is Jen actually has great legs compared to Ang’s bone and skin legs!!”

Concurred Angela Mauer on Us’ Facebook page, “Jennifer is waayaayyayyayaayayay better then angelina.. and has no reason to copy her.”

“Jen looked hot!!! Ange who????” added Shelley Sims on Facebook.

But not all UsMagazine.com readers agreed.

“She is no Angelina,” wrote Lindsay Kate Bradbury on Facebook. “She can try all she wants.”

Jennifer Aniston reportedly spent time with many male friends and former partners at the parties for last night’s Golden Globes ceremony.

According to People, the Friends star was spotted first at the Creative Artists Agency pre-party at the Buffalo Club, where she shared a brief hug with ex-boyfriend Bradley Cooper.

However, the actress apparently spent much of the evening with upcoming Bounty Hunter co-star Gerard Butler.

“Jen looked amazing in a short, black dress,” said one observer. “She was also in a great mood, a social butterfly and mingled for almost three hours. Gerard entertained Jen, and Jen kept giggling like she always does with Gerard.”

At one point during the evening, it is believed that she was greeted by Tate Donovan, who she also used to date. Aniston allegedly seemed thrilled to see him. “Tate! How are you!?” she cried.

Roberts is also a nominee this year in the category of best comedy actress for her performance in Duplicity.

Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio were previously announced as presenters for the Jan. 17 show.

The nominees for this year’s awards were unveiled on Dec. 15. Up In The Air, starring George Clooney, led the pack with six nominations. Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock and Matt Damon earned two acting nods each.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific. Ricky Gervais is hosting.
